Requirements for teen drivers in Georgia became stricter on January 1, 2007 under a new law called Joshua's Law. Essentially, under this new law, drivers must complete a state approved Georgia driver education course in order to receive their drivers license before the age of 17. The state of Georgia is working diligently on providing driver education classes in school, however, in less populated areas, traditional classroom courses may not be available yet. In addition, it's not uncommon these days for teens to participate in home schooling. Parents that want more control over their teen's driver training can now enroll their teen in a state approved online Georgia driver education course.
